Wood Thrush Award Honorees are selected based on their contributions and work for land conservation and stewardship through advocacy and raising awareness, mentorship of others, personal financial contributions, institutional leadership, volunteer efforts, passionate support, and/or a connection to Cincinnati Nature Center's mission.

Proceeds from the Wood Thrush Awards Dinner benefit the Helen C. Black Conservation Fund which is used to preserve and protect Cincinnati Nature Center's lands through land acquisition and conservation easements.

John A. Ruthven has been selected to receive Cincinnati Nature Center's second Wood Thrush Award in October 2013.
