In 1976 John and Judy Ruthven purchased the 1836 Greek Revival brick house
located next to the village Post Office in Georgetown, Ohio. They purchased the property with the idea of establishing it as a rental office space, but ended up openingJohn's own retail gallery and later added a full-service custom framing shop.
It would be the first art gallery in the history of Georgetown - population approximately 3,500. After some months of scraping wallpaper, re-flooring, painting and other necessary repairs, the wildlife art gallery became a reality. Since the residents of Georgetown referred to the gallery as the old Thompson House, the Ruthven's decided to follow suit.
Now after 31 1/2 years retailing in art and feathering his nest at the gallery, John has decided to concentrate on his original paintings and commission work so he is not flying the coop. Though plans for the building are uncertain, the Ruthven's will maintain and protect the historic property, as it is an important component in The Land of Grant.

On Sunday, April 6th the Ruthven's and their staff had an opportunity to share the closing of the Thompson House Gallery and to express their
gratitude for your support and interest in his artwork. John released a new print entitled "Taking Flight".
"Taking Flight" will be John's final Top Flight print. You can see the print under New Releases and Birds. This print was an overwhelming success and is sold out. If you ordered a print and have not picked it up, please call 800-892-3586 to make arrangements for payment and pick up or shipping.
